So when it comes to knowing the ins and outs of finance, Mr. FiredUp definitely takes the lead in our house. He enjoys reading about finance, tax laws, etc more than I do. Investing is just his thing! But I like to consider Investing that has nothing to do with money. To me, investing means much more.
I invest in myself. I buy good nutritious food, make time to exercise, do brain games for my mind, and make sure to have down time for my brain to rest. I’m not perfect doing this, but I make an effort to “invest” in myself every day. By being Financially Independent and Retiring Early (FIRE), I have the time to invest in myself that I didn’t have when I was working 9 to 5. Mr. FiredUp and I want to live a long life and really get to enjoy our retirement. Consequently, I have spent a great deal of time researching different diets to make sure we remain healthy and live the life we’ve worked so hard to achieve.
As a result, we chose to try Vegan eating 18 months ago and have now switched to a mostly WFPB (Whole Food Plant Based) diet. I’m not going to preach the benefits of this diet. There are a lot of people that know a lot more than I do if you’re interested in researching WFPB. But I will say that since switching to WFPB my energy is up, I sleep better, I no longer get migraine headaches, and I feel that my arthritis (inflammation) is much better. WFPB has also cut our grocery bill!
We’ve all heard the sad story of the man who leaves his job at 65, walks to his car, and has a heart attack and dies in the parking lot. I want to make sure that Mr. FiredUp and I are not going to be like that man. Whatever your diet may comprise, but sure to “invest” in yourself and find what makes you the healthiest so that you can enjoy your Financial Independence and Retire Early.
